Preparing your team for their headshot session will help ease nerves, and get everyone on board.
Discover the 4 most common reasons your team may push back—and how you can effectively address and support them.
- Communicate purpose and goals: Most people dread getting their photo taken. Remind them of what a headshot is for: to represent the company, to allow your customer to see who they’re working with, and to humanize and build trust in your brand, to name a few.
- Shift the mindset from “I prefer my picture where I look 10 years younger” to “Updated photos will help bring value to the company and our customers by building trust.”
- Most people don’t know what to wear. Help your team look and feel great: The first step would be to share our WHAT TO WEAR guide with the team. Our best advice…choose the outfit you’d wear on your first day of work in your current role. Something that is authentic to who you are and makes you feel confident!
- Typically, it’s something a little more professional than what you would normally wear, but it’s not an outfit you’d never wear to work i.e. if you never wear a tie to work, don’t wear a tie in your headshot.
- Most people don’t like they look in photos. Elevate your team’s look: In addition to the What to Wear guide, A little help from a professional hair and makeup artist (HMUA) can make your team look and feel their best.
- Offer this add-on to really show your team you care that they feel comfortable for headshots. If you are interested in adding HMUA Services to your session, give me a call and I can share some options.
- Have a plan for retakes and new hires: Inevitably, someone will be sick, someone else will be on vacation, that new guy’s start date is the following week. There’s never the “perfect” time for your headshot day. With our Company Match Program, retakes and make-ups are a breeze. Go ahead and schedule that headshot day–you’ll never need to worry about this again.
Making sure your team is prepared for the session is key to low friction, and high buy-in.
