Meet John. John just changed job to work in a more senior creative role, where many platforms would be using his photo, introducing his new position. He inquired and said his current headshots were “cheesy, corporate… terrible!”

He’s wanting an updated image that is relaxed, modern and has a creative twist/backdrop that reflects my new role (working in RiNo).

How did we execute John’s vision? After an initial phone consultation, we discovered what adjectives John wanted his headshot to portray. His headshots will be used on profiles, newsletters, publications and more. John shared a bit about his personality, where his images will be used, and we talked through his vision to create an image that portrays both John’s aesthetic and competency.

Steps we took to get John the perfect headshot.

We began our discovery process by asking John a series of questions:

  1. What adjectives do you want the images to portray? I want an image that is relaxed, modern and with a creative twist.
  2. The background has a significant role in your photos. What ideas do you have in mind to set the scene? I‘m keen on the background having a robust urban theme to fit with my new position.
  3. Your expression can say a lot about who you are. What kind of vibe do you want the images to convey? I like photos that are almost in a profile pose with a big smile. I always look too self-conscious in photos!
  4. What to wear? Clothing can say a lot about you and colors and style can either tie the photo together or make it feel disjointed. John choose a very bright background, so we suggested wearing a soft texture with a more neutral pattern. He wanted to look professional, yet relaxed. He combined a button up and a jacket with some detail to fit his unique aesthetic, while not competing too much with the background.

Thanks for allowing us to feature you John!
